AROUND CHARIKLIA

From Kambia, you've got a truly breathtaking view over the bay of Souda and the nearby Akrotiri peninsula.

The amazing landscape is inviting you to discover it by car/scooter or bicycle.

 

The roads are mainly very peaceful, and it's lovely to make some stops along the way in one of the many quaint traditional villages and settlements. Plaka (2km.) is one of those villages: you will find 2 supermarkets there, an ATM, and a few taverns in the old village center.

SIGHTS TO SEE

During your stay at "Villa Chariklia Studios" you can't miss out on visiting the city of Chania with it's old Venetian harbor. But Rethymnon with it's Venetian fortress with sea and city views  sure is worth a visit as well.

 

And what about a little cutural trip to sights such as the ancient Aptera, an archeological sight positioned at an altitude of 230 mtr. with amazing view over the bay of Souda.

HIKING AND CYCLING

For sports enthusiasts a hike through one of the many gorges is a true challenge we recommend. Especially the well known Samaria gorge will be an unforgettable experience.

 

The Apokoronas besides, is excellent for (electric)  cycling through the green and hilly surroundings

BEACHES

In the direct vicinity of "Villa Chariklia Studios" you will find beautiful beaches with shallow waters and many services.

 

The beautiful beach of Almyrida is about 4 km away, ia little further away, in Kalyves and Georgioupolis you will find beaches as well with sunbeds and umbrellas in abundance. Furthermore you will find restaurants serving delicious Greek dishes, bars, stores, car/scooterrental and so on.

BOATING

How about a day of boating in the bay of Souda?

In the direct vicinity there's an abundance of offers for daily boattrips. 

 

Of course there's also the abillity to rent a boat of your own and explore the beautiful coastline.
